A heat-pump dryer can be worth investigating when you are reviewing an existing laundry or planning a new one. The useful comparison is between complete, specified models doing equivalent work. A technology label or a headline saving does not tell you whether a machine fits your room, operating window or electrical supply.
Start by writing down the textiles, how they leave the washer and when they must be dry. Then check the proposed dryer’s current technical and installation documents.
Confirm the exact dryer version
Model families can include conventional and heat-pump versions with similar names. Keep the full model designation, control and heating configuration on your shortlist. A photograph, abbreviated range name or capacity figure is not enough to identify the required machine.
For example, the Domus HPD-8 TOUCH II HPi is identified as a heat-pump model. Its documentation should not be substituted with a sheet for an HPD-8 M or a different TOUCH II version.
Read the installation requirements
The current Domus HPD-8 TOUCH II HPi sheet states that this model does not require external exhaust extraction or a cooling-water connection. It also identifies condensate evacuation. Those are model-specific statements; they should not be generalized to every commercial dryer.
Check how condensate will reach an appropriate destination, along with the installation manual’s requirements for hose routing and distance. Assess the room conditions and clearances, and confirm the electrical arrangement for the version being quoted. A machine described as not requiring external exhaust still needs a suitable installation.
Separate installed power from energy per load
Installed electrical power, often expressed in kW, helps describe the connection and load requirement. Energy consumption, expressed in kWh, measures energy used over a period or process. They answer different questions. A lower installed-power figure is not, by itself, the percentage reduction in your annual electricity bill.
Ask for the comparison basis behind any efficiency figure: the model, textile load, moisture level at the start, target result and test conditions. When those differ, apparently simple percentages may not describe equivalent work.
Compare the whole drying job
Record the relevant washer and its extraction settings, the textile mix and the load handling. Moisture entering the dryer matters to the drying task. Include the time available for loading and unloading, not only the programme time.
Discuss the busiest period as well as the average day. If a change in drying technology alters how work is batched or timed, the right answer may involve the wider laundry workflow. Avoid deriving the required number of dryers from a nameplate capacity alone.
Make maintenance access part of the layout
The HPD-8 TOUCH II HPi manufacturer sheet describes front access to the heat pump and filters. This helps frame a practical layout question: will staff and technicians be able to reach the required areas after installation?
Use the operating and maintenance instructions for routine tasks and intervals. Do not infer that one technology removes maintenance requirements. Agree any service scope with ILS against the exact machine, workload and site.
Your dryer comparison checklist
- Full model designation, control and heating configuration.
- Textiles, batch weights and starting moisture conditions where known.
- Required dry result, peak workload and operating window.
- Electrical supply, room conditions and any exhaust or condensate requirements.
- Operating, filter-cleaning and service access.
- Evidence and test conditions behind consumption comparisons.
- Delivery, installation and commissioning scope in the quotation.
Explore commercial dryers and review the exact documents in the technical document centre. The laundry efficiency page explains why equivalent workloads and a clear measurement boundary matter.
Ask ILS about a dryer for your site. Include the installation questions you have confirmed and mark the remaining details for assessment.
